MANDALA
Ancient Design - Modern Life hack
Mandala: Ancient Design - Modern Life hack.
An Online Course to Create an Instrument for Insight, Inspiration and Personal Growth.
OVERVIEW - What?
You will be guided to produce a personal mandala by the end of the course.
This image will reflect aspects of where you're at right now and how you relate to your current situations.
The design that you create can, most likely not immediately, provide clues for how to proceed, resolve an issue, adopt a new perspective. Hint at growth processes that are dominant, require attention, receding, transitioning, to be expected in the future. These may be relationships with family, friends, co-workers, past and unresolved, Growth indicators or signals of stagnation.
Or it may not.
Each section of the course builds upon the section before it. In some cases you can only advance when you've completed the assignment for that relevant section.
INTRODUCTION - When?
The course is gounded in Somatic Principles, developing an awareness of the connections between Brain, Body and Spirit.
However, awareness is only the beginning of a process that is different for everyone and it grows in response to our nurturing.
Cultivating awareness of our body-mind-connectdness will, undoubtedly provoke changes to our way of living. The change may be profound or simply modifying our routine.
So, for example, it occurs to a person that what they're feeling in their gut only happens after eating a greasy burger with fries. With grace, and a little research they learn more about their dietary habits and resolve to eat better to feel better.
When the resolve is sustained, nurtured from awareness to knowing, the somatic connection becomes stronger.
The ex-burger eater has initiated Somatic Integration - the body-mind-soul as lived experience.
It bears reminding: Integration is a journey. It is never the same for everyone.
For a few the integration is smooth because they've lived congruently for years. Others were born knowing - and the process is entirely natural.
Most of us though, experience living life incongruently: brain agrees with body agrees with spirit; as challenging, painful and threatening. Our body revolts and almost inexplicably, we are surprised by an illness of frightening diagnosis
To this end, there are various techniques, practices and exercises throughout the course. Some of these are ancient and performed as routinely as brushing one's teeth
BACKGROUND
In this course you will learn the ancient origins of the circular motif used all across the world for meditation purposes and ritual invocation.
The introduction also shows how the circle motif became the essential symbol for wholeness, centering for community and how it became a diagnostic by way of Carl Gustaf Jung, a Swiss psychoanalyst and theorist, contemporary of Sigmund Freud.
It was Jung who first used drawing the mandala as a way to gain insight into his patients' various pathologies. This class does not, in any way, (intend or pretend) to emulate a Jungian analysis or interpretation of your final project.
Likewise, I am not a Jungian analyst or a professional psychotherapist.
Over the course of almost 25 years, I built upon the training and practical experience as a teacher Therapeutic Bodywork, Hatha yoga, Somatic Artmaking, Holistic Health practitioner, specializing in Neuro-muscular/Trigger Point therapy for repetitive motion strain, Myo-facial release, Thai Yoga, assistant to Ruth Eileen Dorn's The Mask Project.
I'm profoundly indebted to the extraordinary teachers, long-suffering students, clients dedicated to self-development and friends. All of them impacted my path and inscrutably, this class and website.
